Olympia BldgThe Olympia UU Congregation, in Washington’s capital city, has been selected as the recipient of the Chalice Lighter Program fall call.

In 2006, OUUC launched an expansion plan for facilities to serve 500 by 2016. In 2009, they raised $1.2 million and constructed additional classrooms, office space and commons. They’ve since raised another $823,000 towards a new sanctuary and more classrooms. This summer they began construction for additional parking and storm water improvements. The fall Chalice Lighter call will go toward helping them with their next phase — installing a children’s play structure with perimeter fence and groundcover.

Completing the playground is considered “essential to the maintenance and growth of the RE program.” It is also an integral part of OUUC’s growth plan to achieve greater presence and service to families in the South Puget Sound area.

You can help our friends at Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation by donating now to the PNWD Chalice Lighter fall call.

If your congregation would like to submit a proposal for a Chalice Lighter grant, October 28 is the deadline for applications to be considered for the winter call. Need more time? Applications received by February 10, 2014 will be considered for the spring call.

Grant applications and full program details can be found on the PNWD Chalice Lighter website.

If you are already a Chalice Lighter, thank you! If not, please consider joining our community of nearly 2,000 PNWD Chalice Lighters by clicking here.

The fall call will be open for contributions through November 4. Donations received after that date will go into the Chalice Lighters Undesignated Fund.
