The first Chalice Lighter call of the 2012/13 church year is for the Umpqua UU Church in Roseburg, Oregon.
Like many churches in our region, Umpqua wants to replace an aging, inefficient heating system with a modern, greener, complete HVAC system that will be less expensive to operate and maintain, and be consistent with our Seventh Principle. In Roseburg, however, there is a need to replace the system: it takes valuable space in the youth room and its configuration presents a safety hazard to children. The projected cost for this project is $16,000, a goal within easy reach of our generous PNWD Chalice Lighters.
The Chalice Lighter Program assists the growth of new and existing congregations in the Pacific Northwest District by providing grants funded exclusively through the generosity of our Chalice Lighter donors. Chalice Lighters pledge to give at least $15 to each of (no more than) three calls per year. If you would like to join ranks with over 2,400 PNWD Chalice Lighters, click here.
