Spokane UU Church (WA) installs the Rev. Dr. Todd Eklof as Minister on Sunday, November 6, at 6:00 P.M.
UU Congregations traditionally formalize the call of a UU minister through an Installation ceremony, witnessed by the minister’s clergy colleagues and leaders of neighboring UU congregations. The act of installation represents intent of the UU community to support this shared ministry, and to hold both minister and congregation accountable to UU values, ethical conduct and our highest aspirations.
East Shore Unitarian Church (Bellevue, WA) ordains Carmen McDowell to the Unitarian Universalist Ministry on Sunday, October 23, 7:00 PM. Carmen received her M.Div. from the School of Theology and Ministry, Seattle University, and served her parish internship at University Unitarian Church (Seattle, WA). Beginning in October, she will serve Cascade UU Fellowship (Wenatchee, WA) along with their Consulting Minister, the Rev. Cecilia Kingman, who is preparing for maternity leave. Carmen will then serve the remainder of this year as transitional Consulting Minister for CUUF.
First Unitarian Church of Portland (OR) ordains Marcia Stanard to the Unitarian Universalist Ministry on Sunday, November 20, 6:00 PM. Marcia received her M.Div. from Meadville Lombard Theological School, and served her parish internship at Saltwater UU Church (Des Moines, WA). Marcia is currently serving Wy’East UU Congregation (Portland, OR) as Consulting Minister.
UUA member congregations may ordain to the Unitarian Universalist ministry those who have been accepted into Fellowship with the UUA, having demonstrated educational achievement, required professional experience and competencies, and other standards deemed necessary to appropriately serve the larger faith. Both Carmen and Marcia are in UUA Fellowship. UU congregations may also ordain other individuals to their service, though these ministries are considered specific to the congregation.
