Pacific Northwest Chalice Lighters responded generously to the first call of this year (fall 2010), proof once again that many small acts of love can produce an impressive result!  We have provided almost $16,000 to the Alaska Travel Fund, allowing our Alaskan congregations more equal access to the consulting skills and expertise of district staff and experienced lay and clergy leaders as they pursue congregational growth. Your contributions to Call #2 allowed us to send over $16,000 to Atkinson Memorial Church in Oregon City, OR. Their grant will assist them in installing an elevator to access both their new RE classrooms and their historic sanctuary.

The final call of the 2010/11 church year is for Magic Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Twin Falls, Idaho, our easternmost congregation. Magic Valley is partnering with Pocatello (in our neighboring Mountain Desert District) to share a minister. Both congregations believe that with professional assistance for the next several years, they can help each other grow. You can make your gift right now online, or mail your check to PNWD Chalice Lighters, 12700 SE 32nd Street, Suite E-101, Bellevue, WA 98005-4317. This call will be open for contributions through June 20, 2011. Donations received after this date go into the Chalice Lighters unrestricted fund.

For over 20 years, the PNWD Chalice Lighters Program has been providing grants to congregations, groups of congregations, or district programs that directly benefit congregations, to assist growth efforts.  PNWD Chalice Lighters pledge to respond with a contribution of at least $15 three times a year to help our fellow UU’s.
