The currently open Chalice Lighter call is the 2016 Fall call.
Dear Chalice Lighter,
Thank you for pledging to support Pacific Northwest congregations through the Chalice Lighter program. Thanks to your generous response to our Winter Call, we were able to send a grant of $15,855 to Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship for visibility and access improvements. We are sending this spring mailing to alldonors, including those who fulfilled their 2015/16 Chalice Lighter pledges in advance, because we want to be sure every donor receives our Annual Report, which details the accomplishments you made possible last year.
As we had no fall call, this Spring Call requests your support for two worthy projects:
- A major upgrade to the sanctuary sound system, to solve a plethora of acoustical problems that detract from the worship experience, for the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Salem, Oregon ($18,059 requested).
- An upgrade to a commercial-level kitchen, including food safety enhancements and replacement of an old and dangerous gas range, for the West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Portland, Oregon ($7,000 requested).
We can meet the needs for both West Hills and Salem if you donate $30. Because this church year we are having only two calls instead of the normal three, we hope you will donate twice the usual request of $15 per call. However, we are grateful for whatever you choose to give.
Please respond now with your contribution. Payments will be accepted for this call through June 13. Contributions after that date, as well as any funds received in excess of the total request, will go into the Chalice Lighters Undesignated Fund (which was recently used to augment funds available for growth technology grants). Ten percent of each call reimburses district expenses to administer the program. Your donations are deductible to the extent allowed by law.
