Two ministers serving PNWD congregations retired as the year 2012 concluded.

The Rev. Bruce Davis retired from Evergreen UU Fellowship (Marysville, WA) after 7-1/2 years of service as full-time, settled minister. Rev. Davis was called to EUUF shortly after receiving his Masters of Divinity from Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry. He served his internship at Edmonds UU Church (WA) and was ordained by University Unitarian Church in Seattle, where he had been an active lay leader and a member for 25 years.

Rev. Davis is a life-long resident of the Puget Sound area. Prior to his ministry, he had a 30 year career as a family physician in Seattle.

Members of the congregation bestowed the title of Minister Emeritus on Rev. Davis on December 30, his final day with them.

The Rev. David More Maynard also retired on December 30, from Eastrose Fellowship UU (Portland/ Gresham, OR). Rev. Maynard had served the congregation for 10 years, first as a Consulting Minister, then as Settled Minister since 2011. At the time of his retirement, the position had increased to 3/4-time.

Rev. Maynard was raised a Unitarian in Wilmington, Delaware.  Following seminary at Starr King School for the Ministry, his internship was under Dr. Alan Deale at First Unitarian Church of Portland, OR. Rev. Maynard was ordained by the First Unitarian Society of San Francisco in November, 1975, and subsequently served congregations in Peoria, IL and Nashville, TN. From 1999-2002, Rev. Maynard served as Consulting Minister to the Westside UU Congregation in Seattle.

In addition to his UU ministry, Rev. Maynard is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor in private practice, which he will continue on a part-time basis. Eastrose Fellowship has honored Rev. Maynard with the title Minister Emeritus.
