addictions conference imageThe Addictions Ministry Project’s Recovery Conference, postponed from March 14, has been rescheduled for October 10. If you’d like to learn more about addiction and mental illness, or you want to enhance the ministry your congregation offers individuals and families who have experienced addiction or other mental illness, plan to attend “Languages of Love: Recovery from Addiction and Mental Illness.” This day-long conference will be held 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on October 10 at the Olympia UU Congregation. Highlights include a presentation on “Numbing the Pain: Trauma and Substance Abuse” from Summer Krause, who trained with Lisa Najavits. (Najavits is author of the Seeking Safety curriculum that addresses both addiction and trauma; “Nurturing Our Mental Health;” and “Addiction, Mental Illness, and Youth.”) The $20 fee includes lunch.

Registration is easy. Simply send your name, email address, phone number, and congregation name (if you attend a Unitarian Universalist congregation) to the Rev. Barbara Stevens. Your $20 payment may be made via the Donate Now/Pay Now button on the PNWD website. Scroll down to ‘Other Contributions’ for Addictions Ministry Project.

If you have questions or would like additional information, contact the Rev. Barbara Stevens.
