question marksWhere Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?

Please join us Saturday, March 5 as we gather in Seattle for our District Annual Meeting. This one-day event will be held at University Unitarian Church in Seattle. The Rev. Jon Luopa, Senior Minister at University Church, will be the keynote speaker. The $55 registration fee covers the entire day’s activities, including lunch and afternoon workshops.

Four years ago when we celebrated PNWD’s fiftieth anniversary, we marked that occasion with recollections from past and current district leaders. In 2012, as in 1962, the theme was one of optimism, enthusiasm, and confidence. Longtime District Executive, the late Rod Stewart, observed in 1987 that he experienced the district “as a living organism with a life of its own. In addition to effectively utilizing its resources, I believe this creature has done remarkably well in adapting to its environment.

What is the nature of our environment today? Since our Golden Anniversary, regional collaboration has begun in earnest across the four western districts. The initial one-year agreement signed last spring by the PNWD board and the three other western districts provides for UUA regional staff to deliver services to congregations throughout the Pacific Western Region (PWR) and for districts to pay a portion of the personnel costs of these newly named UUA Congregational Life staff members. Last fall the boards delegated supervision of their district administrators to the PWR Lead, and staff in the four district offices began working as a PWR administrative team.

We look forward to seeing you in Seattle on March 5. Come be a part of this important conversation about where our Pacific Northwest District is heading and how we can thrive in this changing environment.
